Wakaw Lake’s history

Wakaw Lake is a resort village on the shores of the lake of the same name, in the Rural Municipality of Hoodoo No. 401. It sits along Highway 41, about 86 kilometres north-east of Saskatoon and 63 kilometres south of Prince Albert.

The community became an incorporated resort village on October 21, 1959. Its name comes from the nearby lake, and "Wakaw" is a Cree word meaning "crooked."
